1. Overview
MyStep is a pedometer and daily activity tracking app. We designed it to help you view steps, goals, estimated distance, estimated calories, active time, and activity history.
MyStep is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Activity measurements are estimates and may vary by device, sensor quality, Android settings, and how you carry your phone.
2. Information we collect
Depending on how you use the app, MyStep may process the following categories of information:
- Activity data: step count, goal progress, estimated distance, estimated calories, active minutes, daily history, and related app settings.
- Device and app data: device model, operating system version, app version, language, region, basic performance data, crash logs, and diagnostic events.
- Permission status: whether required or optional Android permissions, such as physical activity and notifications, have been granted.
- Support information: information you choose to send when contacting us, such as your email address, message content, screenshots, or troubleshooting details.
Core step tracking is designed to work without a MyStep account. MyStep does not require precise location for basic step counting.
3. How we use information
We use information to provide, maintain, and improve MyStep. This includes counting steps, showing progress, saving goals, generating activity history, troubleshooting errors, responding to support requests, protecting app security, and complying with applicable legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your step data to build third-party advertising profiles.
4. Storage and retention
Activity data is intended to be stored primarily on your device for the app experience. If Android backup or device transfer features are enabled on your device, app data may be handled by Google or your device provider according to their settings and policies.
Support messages are retained for as long as needed to respond to you, maintain business records, resolve disputes, and meet legal requirements. Diagnostic logs are kept only for a reasonable period needed to maintain and improve the app.
6. Your choices and controls
You can control MyStep through Android settings and in-app settings where available. You may:
- Grant or revoke physical activity permissions from Android settings.
- Turn notifications on or off from Android notification settings.
- Delete app data through Android storage settings or by uninstalling the app.
- Contact us to request help with privacy questions or support data you previously provided.
7. Children
MyStep is not directed to children under 13, or to a higher minimum age where required by local law. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us so we can take appropriate action.
8. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. International use
MyStep may be used in different countries. Information may be processed in countries other than where you live, subject to applicable law and appropriate safeguards where required.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If changes are material, we will take reasonable steps to notify users, such as updating the effective date, posting a notice on this website, or providing an in-app notice where appropriate.
